The Draughtsman Pours Downtown’s Most Serious Beer

A working brewery in a former drafting office, where the lagers are the point and the TVs stay off.

Downtown Jacksonville does not lack for places to drink. It lacks places to drink well, which is the gap The Draughtsman fills with something like architectural precision.

What to order

The Czech-style pilsner is the flagship for a reason — brewed on site, poured with a proper cap of foam, three dollars during weekday happy hour. The rotating dark lager deserves more attention than it gets.

The catch

The kitchen is a food-truck rotation, which is either charming or annoying depending on the night. Check the schedule before you commit to dinner here. Solo drinkers: the bar rail is deep, the staff talks beer without being precious about it, and nobody will bother you with a television.
